Well... okay then... Mark Barnes, Britain's Fourth Greatest Illustrator, was found behind a wardrobe at some point in the Seventies. What he was doing there remains a mystery to this day but he was taken in by a kindly couple and fed and fed until he grew big and furry. Much later, he packed up his trunk and trundled off to Kingston University to study Illustration, leaving the old couple with a lot more room and considerably less hair on the carpet. He returned from University clutching an important-looking certificate that had cost far, far more than the paper it was printed on and a head full of Really Useful Knowledge. He put this to good use, first in creating a stupendous range of greetings cards and then by starting work on his magnum opus, a graphic documentary about the Blitz. 'Business as Usual' will be his fifth-and-a-half picture book. Others dealt with such weighty topics as the mystery of flight, the trouble with pickled eggs and the trials and tribulations of trying to catch a crow with a fishing rod and a dead mouse. All were received with great applause. Mark recently became an 'award-winning' illustrator for his Museum of Tales project - the world's first cyber-museum dedicated to illustrated stories.
